The National Weather Service has Athens, OH under a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather today. Main hazards include, but are not limited to, isolated tornados, strong wind gusts, and small hail. The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) also has our region under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 4) on the Excessive Rainfall outlook for possible isolated flash floods. Stay weather aware today, do not drive onto flooded roadways, and have multiple ways to receive warnings!

A weather system’s cold front will be passing over our region today bringing chances of showers and thunderstorms into the evening hours. Wind gusts may get up to 20mph today and tomorrow with winds majorly stemming from the southwest. Clouds clear out tomorrow afternoon to allow for some sunshine before quickly returning that evening, and temperatures will warm back up again tomorrow, likely hitting the upper 70s with room for potentially low 80s. Rainy conditions do not let up until the beginning of next week, allowing a chance of thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday, letting up with rain showers on Sunday. Be sure to pack an umbrella this week and stay weather aware!
