Forecast Discussion

A Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for Athens County from 7 PM tonight until 11 AM Saturday. Wind chill of near -11°F will be possible in some areas. Hypothermia and frostbite may occur if skin is left unprotected. Please bundle up before your morning commute this morning. Thankfully, we can expect temperatures to steadily rise as we move into this weekend and next week. Calm conditions are expected for most of the forecast with warmer air from the south moving up into the state. While temperatures will remain chilly in the upper-20s to lower-30s, it’s a much-needed welcome from the bitterly cold temperatures we’ve been experiencing recently. By Tuesday and Wednesday, a weak system will travel across the state, bringing the possibility for some rain-snow mix Tuesday evening into Wednesday. At the moment this system, thankfully, doesn’t seem to be too significant.
