The first day of fall brings the Athens area drier weather, despite flooding still remaining a concern. Previous flooding events across southeastern Ohio are still ongoing, as it is taking longer than usual for the water to fully drain. Some roadways are still impacted, and even closed. Because of this, the flood warning has been extended again until 9 p.m. tonight. Overcast skies will remain for the rest of the day, with rain showers returning late tonight.

Wednesday looks to be a washout, with thunderstorms possible in the late morning and afternoon. A marginal risk for excessive rainfall is in place tonight and Wednesday, rating a level 1 out of 4. Flooding concerns are expected to rise again tomorrow. Showers will stick around tomorrow night and early Thursday morning, but will clear out by the late morning. Skies will quickly clear Thursday afternoon and remain that way heading into the weekend.

Besides the rain, temperatures are not expected to pass 75 degrees until next week! Happy Fall, y’all!
