As the holiday weekend comes to a close, a ridge of high-pressure will continue to dominate the region today sunny skies and highs in the low-90s. Conditions will remain calm until Monday as the high-pressure system fills in and weakens. A cold front will swoop in from the northwest as muggy conditions increase with dewpoints possibly reaching the low-70s and heat indices reach the mid to high-90s. Remnants from Tropical Storm Chantal off the coast of the Carolinas will stall the progression of the cold front before it dissipates and goes off to sea. The cold front will move through southeast Ohio Monday into Tuesday. Chances for showers and thunderstorms will begin Monday afternoon and evening as surface moisture increases.

A series of shortwave troughs will persist throughout the week as high-pressure settles in to the south and the frontal boundary over Ohio becomes stationary. Thus, a chance for showers and thunderstorms will persist for much of the week with the greatest likelihood occurring Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday with a slight chance Wednesday evening. Temperatures will remain in the mid to upper-80s after Monday with it feeling humid at times.
